This beautiful bone china mug and matching A5 notebook feature a striking, geometric wallpaper design dating to the Regency period.
The verditer (light blue/green pigment) and white lines on the historic design are thought to represent ribbons of blue and white moiré silk, interwoven to create a trellis. At the centre of each diamond is an enigmatic ‘pin print’ motif, a little like a spider. The pattern was carefully recreated by historic wallpaper specialist Hamilton Weston from historic fragments found behind the shutters in Mrs Austen’s bedroom at Jane Austen’s House – where they can still be seen today.
